2023 Travel Year in Review
It’s been a busy travel year, domestic and overseas - Reno, Hawai’i, Dublin, Portugal and the Caribbean. And of course, the usual meanderings in SoCal - LA, Orange County, San Diego and Santa Barbara.
Reno
Reno in February was a fun adventure with some delightful finds downtown and at the University of Nevada, Reno. Visiting the dramatic, light-filled Washoe County Library was a highlight!

Hawai’i
There were four trips to Honolulu in 2023 to visit with family and help my siblings care for my parents. While out and about just running errands I managed to see midcentury and modernist architecture, which is plentiful in the islands. A tour of Lijestrand House was a highlight in March.

Dublin
What a treat to visit Dublin for the first time and to meet my travel architecture goals and more! Two highlights from this trip - Trinity College libraries ant the US Embassy by John M. Johansen.

Porto
Porto was an eclectic mix of architecture. A highlight was our visit to Casa de Serralves by architect José Marques da Silva, 1944, Álvaro Siza, 2004 (restoration) and the Museu de Serralves, Architect: Álvaro Siza Vieira, 1999.

Lisbon
I quite enjoyed our stay in Lisbon for its old world charm, art deco architecture and those paved mosaic walkways. I’d return in a heartbeat!
The Expo'98 Portuguese National Pavilion by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira was my favorite.
