Architecture Style - A-Frame Building

I get excited when I happen upon an A-Frame building whether a house, a motel, a church or a restaurant. I thought it would make for a fun post to share some of the triangular buiildings that I’ve happened upon in my day-to-day explorations.

Foxy’s Restaurant, 1964 Glendale, CA 206 W Colorado St.

More than one Instagram follower alerted me to Foxy’s in Glendale, CA. You can get that mountain cabin vibe while in the city at this vintage restaurant that serves breakfast (all day), lunch and dinner.

A-Frame Homes

A-frames are plentiful in vacation places in the mountains or by the water. Occasionally they can be spotted in places in CA like Eagle Rock, Pasadena and Del Mar as shown in the gallery above. I even found a couple in Hawaii, a couple blocks apart.

A-Frame Churches

A-Frame churches can easily be found. The high-vaulted ceiling allows for abundant natural light in which to worship.

A-Frame Motel Entryways

It is common to find motels with A-frame porte-chère entryways and A-frame buildings housing the reservation desk. Shown in the gallery above are two such motels in Palm Springs and one in Pasadena.

A-Frame Reading

For those wishing to delve further into the modern A-Frame, there is a book with photograpy by Ben Rahn. I found a copy in a home and clothing store in Montecito. As I thumbed through the book, I happened upon an entry for one of the A-frame buildings in California which happened to be the one closest to me in Eagle Rock!
